Bitter guard (Karela in Hindi) is really popular in many Asian countries and originated from India.It is really bitter and can be an acquired taste, but the benefits are all in the bitter part containing several nutrients like magnesium, potassium, iron, and Vitamin C.

Ingredients
- ½ cup Bitter guard (karela)
- A small piece of ginger
- A pinch of salt
- A pinch of black pepper
- ½ tsp lemon juice
Directions
- Wash the Bitter guard (Karela)
- Slit it lengthwise and remove the seeds
- Cut into slices
- Pour it in a blender or juicer adding water
- Add all the above ingredients in a blender and grind it adding about 1/4 cup of water
- Pass it through a sieve
- Add lemon juice, salt and sprinkle from fresh black pepper on top
- Serve it with a slice of lime
